Photographer's Bio
JEFFREY CONLEY

I consider the act of photographing to be a kind of meditation that widens the perception of the existing and evolving world around us. As a two-dimensional manifestation of a fleeting instant, the static photographic image allows for lingering, prolonged contemplation. The print itself is a vehicle, representing the final, tangible connection to that original experience. I seek refuge and simplicity in my photographs and find a personal resolution and fulfillment that I hope others experience also.

Jeffrey Conley creates stunning photographs that evoke a sense of wonder and reverence for the natural world. Scale and palette vary tremendously, from small, intimate, and subtle, to large, grand, and dramatic.

Originally from New York State, Jeffrey Conley received a BFA in Photographic Studies at Rochester Institute of Technology. In 1991 he moved to Yosemite National Park in California's majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains. There he photographed extensively and led seminars in photographic instruction at the Ansel Adams Gallery.

Now residing in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, Jeffrey’s efforts center on his creative photography. His subject matter is diverse, from urban landscapes and the found still life, to studies of pristine wilderness. Scale and palette vary tremendously, from small, intimate, and subtle, to large, grand, and dramatic. In all, he strives to capture and liberate a meditative spirit that he feels can be found within so many subjects.

He meticulously crafts each Gelatin Silver Print in the traditional darkroom to his high quality standards. Subtle aesthetic variation within printing decisions, in conjunction with processing and printing material variances makes each print a distinctly original creation.

Original photographs by Jeffrey Conley have been exhibited and collected worldwide. His limited edition silver gelatin prints are made in various sizes with small edition sizes of 40 or 65, inclusive of all sizes.
