Dan is famous for his Photoshop artistry and has taught photography workshops all around the world. Now join him at Sun to Moon Gallery for a whole-day workshop covering techniques for controlling and fine-tuning your images. In this workshop, Dan will use participants' images to demonstrate how he diagnoses and guides a digital capture toward becoming beautifully expressive fine art. Learn Dan's techniques- including on your own images- for controlling contrast, saturation, detail and composition. See how to build emotional impact into your images with glowing highlights, rich mid-tones and velvety shadows.
Every participant will have the option to share an image in this interactive workshop. Even good images may take a different spin using Dan's suggestions and fine-art oriented workflow. For those who can bring laptop computers with Photoshop (and optionally Lightroom), a few of Dan's example files will be available for hands-on practice. Don't worry if you don't have a laptop- this workshop has a lot to offer and will present information in lecture/demonstration form for most of the class.

About the Instructor
DAN BURKHOLDER received both his BA and Master's Degrees from Brooks Institute of Photography and has been teaching digital imaging workshops for 15 years at venues including The Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego; The Royal Photographic Society, Madrid, Spain; The International Center of Photography, New York; Palm Beach Photographic Centre; Anderson Ranch and many others.
No stranger to traditional photography, he was a workshop student of Ansel Adams and his mastery of the wet darkroom was highlighted by serving as assistant to both John Sexton and Jerry Uelsmann. His award-winning book, Making Digital Negatives for Contact Printing, has become a standard resource in the fine-art photography community. Dan's new book, The Color of Loss, intimately documents the flooded interiors of post-Katrina New Orleans and is the first coffee table book done entirely using HDR methods.
